Panel: Islands of Innovation - Strategies for Small Nations with Big Potential
Tórheðin Jónsveinsson Jensen is a Faroese business leader with deep experience in both traditional industry and innovation policy. As Head of Marketing at Varðin, the largest fishing organisation in the Faroe Islands, he leads strategic communication and international outreach. Prior to this, he spent 15 years as Administration Manager at Varðin, overseeing operations, finance, HR, and institutional relations, and serving as secretary to the board. Tórheðin began his career as a fisherman but soon transitioned into international trade, working in France with major retail chains such as Carrefour and Leclerc, and later as Sales and Marketing Director at Faroe Ship. He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration from Henley Business School, where his research focused on innovation in fishing and salmon farming—combining practical leadership with strong analytical insight. Since 2022, he has served as Chair of the Faroese Government’s Research, Development and Innovation Council, helping to shape national innovation strategy. His work bridges the gap between business and policy, with a focus on creating sustainable value through knowledge, collaboration, and forward-looking investment.
