As an artist raised in the Faroe Islands and now living in Denmark, I draw on my roots and the unique elements of both places in my work. In this exhibition I present paintings sewn from recycled bedding, symbolizing a connection to the past and the stories we carry with us. I find great inspiration in my children, as their joy of life and curiosity remind me of the small moments that shape our lives and being in the present. I explore emotions big and small, and depict changing states and vibrations like waves in the water. The mountain has been replaced by the birch tree, which is now my neighbor, and quietly and slowly walks up the surface of the water. I have drunk its sap, an attempt to get even closer and be one with them. Here, the water we swim in is a metaphor for the cycle of life, where man withers, but the tree grows stronger and stronger in a noisy silence. In my ceramic figures, a dialogue takes shape between man and fish, where both adapt and learn to live together and be there for each other and withstand the trials, beginnings and endings of time.
